I think if you ask most folks at MS what the suggested tool for single tier development, they will tell you it is Access....

As a pure database engine, Access has many more capabilities than Fox. Access's performance has increased quite a bit over the years. And, its SQL Server integration beats the pants off Fox...

It is high time that folks realize that this whole speed issue is not an advantage soley held by Fox. If it were that significant, you would not be seeing the things you soo today. Consider what MS has innovated lately.... I don't think you are going to be seeing any more innovations in the DBF file format..
