I don't know if this will help, but I publsihed a document, "GenScrnX Reference Notes" that covers alot of the CONFIG issues, among other things. It is available at:

It is hard to be sure from your description what the problem is. Possibly there are some extra drivers meant to be installed at hooks via config directives.
