Has anyone used the DynamicCurrentControl property for a grid column successfully?

I have set mine to:
=IIF(.t., text1, spinner1)

( I just plugged in .t., to prove that it wasn't my evaluation that was screwing it up. It made no difference.)

I always get the spinner control.

Am I missing something?
