HTML help, in two words, is DOG SLOW....
One one hand, HTML help is easier to author than RTF-based help. But, it is much slower. The development learning curve is a function of time and gaining the required skill. The poor performance unfortunately, you are stuck with. So, with that in mind, HTML is in many ways, a step backward....
