Yes, I've seen The Rules, but do you really believe they "can be got"? I mean, here's one, for example:

No joke message is allowed. Posting a joke online is totally unrelated to the content of a Universal Thread forum.

Now, does anyone really take that seriously? Because if so, it seems a whole lot of the messages here would fall into that category (even if unintentionally <g>). Oh, damn. See, there I just did it myself.

Interestingly enough, elsewhere in The Rules, one finds:

When doing a joke, make sure you use the appropriate acronym. This will make sure the destinator will know that you're are joking. You can access the list of acronyms from the main page menu.

So, which is it, hmmm? You can certainly understand my confusion, right?

Actually, the harder I look, the less helpful The Rules are. Can you point me to the actual paragraph (it does deserve at least that much, right) that addresses flames and use of bad words? I don't see it there. I see an admonition against certain unarticulated "attitudes", but nowhere does it say anything about appropriate language. In fact, the *only* reference to language in The Rules is this:

Do not answer a question in a different language than the one the question was originally posted. If the original question was posted in English, then English should be used for the entire thread. As for the most used language in the Universal Thread, English will be accepted at any time.

Seems that particular rule would condone the use of any sort of language, given that it was "in kind." <g>

What this all boils down to is, I was presumed to be aware of unspoken rules, and got the bounce because someone else apparently wasn't any more aware than myself. That make sense to you?
