>I have VFP3, but I gather here that VFP5's report writer is not very different. I am often frustrated with the limitations of the report writer. When my users eventually ask that their reports be written to files that they can fax, I may abandon it altogether.
I'm using version 5.0, and there's just enough change in the format that there a converter from 3.0 to 5.0. However, there is no substantive difference.
The last time I talked to Microsoft perple about it, they suggested sending reports out to Word. That's fine for in-house systems (actually not a bad idea at all), but when you're marketing to the public general, you can't guarantee that your customer will have a copy of Word on their systems. I'm not sure whether there's a Word runtime available - that would be useful.
Aparently, this is a part of the Visual Studio package that Microsoft is planning on upgrading Real Soon Now.
