Strange. I know it's a "g" in Cyrillic, but it's pronounced as a "v" when not starting a word (like a military general), so I would have thought it would be written in the English alphabet as "v".

I would for big queries or other stuff likes calls to COM objects. Basically, do whatever works for you. Best judgement.

Can't help you there. I never use the status bar because of that behavior to show the cursor and record count when not otherwise engaged.
