Are the user reports and log activity mutually exclusive?

ex: can a log print while the user report is printing? Tthis assumes the log printer app is separate from the report app- the gotcha might be related to windows print spooler not behaving. Or is this one app with two printing modes, in which case your solution sounds fine. (at first glance)
