Hi Alex,

I'd just like to correct you on one point if I may. In Australia we have daylight savings time and the UK does too. In Australia ( all our States I think ? ) we moved our clocks back 1 hour on the 26th of March to mark the end of our daylight savings. I believe that the UK moved theirs forward 1 hour on the same day.

Gavin...

>>Now, if you look at any other peripherals in your house. Why is it that the digital clock on the stove, the coffee machine, the video, and the alarm clock can't handle that by themselves.

>My guess is that it's because north america isn't the only place in the world where those appliances are used. Daylight savings time isn't an international thing. A lot of people would by annoyed at having to live with an appliance that's off by an hour every 6 months.

>>It's the same old story whenever their is a power off. The computers will boot up as is. However, those peripherals will loose the clock settings.

>They could have an internal backup battery. It wouldn't be too hard to sell this devices with a 5yr lithium battery built in.

>>As for the video, adjusting the settings requires us to power it on, use the remote, play with the menu and adjust it. It's more easy with the other peripherals. We are in modern technology time, right? Why is it like that? :)

>Probably because such a feature would only add to the unfriendliness of vcr's user interface.
