I have a VisualMaxFrame 4 app that I have been developing off and on for the past two and a half years (upgraded from VMP3). A couple of months ago I obtained Stonefield Database Toolkit and added it to the above VMP app. Several tables have been added and fields have been added to existing tables. I have been using SDT to make these changes.

It is now time to build a new EXE and create an installation disk and deliver the upgrade to the client. I was a little apprehensive about this because I could not find anyplace in the SDT manual that tells how or when SDT makes the structural changes at the client site when a new EXE is installed.

I am in the process of doing some testing on my development PC and have run into problems. I have a folder on another disk drive with a copy of the tables as they currently exist on the client's network. I have copied to this same drive the 3 database container files from the drive where I am doing development along with the SDT tables called for in the SDT manual (page 62) and the new EXE. When I try to run the EXE, I get various errors about backlinks not being able to be resolved, etc. It appears that the VMP app is trying to open the database but is finding discrepancies between the database container and the existing tables.

Can anyone tell me how this is supposed to work? When and how is SDT supposed to make the structural changes? Do I need to call a SDT function as part of the installation of the new EXE?
