I read it in the latest PC Magazine (April 18,2000) in the John C. Dvorak Inside Track column. That's probably where he got the rumor, too. It's supposed to be Office 2000 for Linux being developed by a secret team in India. Don't know the reasoning except it could easily be said that for interoperability and users moving from traditional Windows apps to Linux who are used to the feel of Office this could make sense.

Time will tell.
