I disagree with that statement that frameworks hide how things really work. IMO, if you use a framework extensively you will learn more about how VFP works, not less. Unless you use the framework very casually only using wizards to build the entire app, you are forced to dig into the innards to understand how things fit together. This is often necessary when you need to add functionality that the framework does not have or when you need to modify existing functionality.

When developing any but the most simplistic applications a framework will force you to learn more than you ever wanted to know about VFP ;).
