Alex Check In IE5 there is a setting under tools - internet options - Advanced Page Tab - Browsing - there is an option for "Automatically Check for IE updates" this could take sometime if Ie is busy. This option is defaulted to ON when Ie is installed. this should speed up the opening of IE 5..

You said after the rebuild it was slow..is this just opening files or passing files across the network or just in general all apps are slow?
