This is one of the reasons I started using parameterized views. Which sounds bad, but really isn't so bad. At least not in the long run.

In pseudo code:

SELECT [fields from tableB], [name from TableC] FROM TableB LEFT JOIN TableC ON [TableB other field = TableC field] where [TableB field = TableA field]
