>Hello All VB programmers, My name is Ed Schindler however I go by Smoother usually on the net. I have been a PC enthusiest since '81 and a C, ASM and BASIC programmer for DOS since '83. I have only recently purchased Win95 and VB 4.0 Pro. Already re-writing the many device drivers I've developed for parallel and serial ports for digital and analog machine control used in my many robotic projects in VB for Win95 has challenged me considerably!
>The current project involves I/O flow display in real time for modems. Not just 'LED' display but full stats on buffer states, transfer rates, etc. I bought PDQComm 3.1 for 32-bit (and 16-bit) custom controls that include TAPI custom controls as well. The TAPI control is interesting for its ability to use Win95's device properties and Location properties. This saves alot of 'lets find, setup and initilize the modem...' routines needed for most any modem app. So far on my Data display project all I have is the terminal working with the 'LED' stuff working as well, no commport data output for display yet. VB is powerfull but a PITA to migrate to from DOS. At least for this 'windows will never amount to anything' boaster of the past. I'll get the hang of this stuff but I am very glad to find this exchange page. Although it looks kinda dead so far for the VB types that come here....

>ps: would really like to gain friendships with other VB from DOS programmers as well as any VB programmers that like to exchange code.
