The test is "IF item.Forecolor = RGB(255,0,0)" This gives an error of "function argument value, type, or count invalid." In the locals window this property has a value of (none). What am I missing?

Dan,

In common, this line should not cause an error and I'm little confused. This works fine for me and I never had such a problem, I inspected that value in the watch window and it shows the correct value I set to it. Try to see what value it contains (before storing new value to it) using message box or wait window command and then let me know what happen.
