After I read it again, I (think) I realize what it's saying...that you can't do joins between different tables both in a JOIN as well as a WHERE in the same SQL statement...which still wouldn't limit you from doing the other stuff you'd do in a WHERE (fields being a certain value, etc.)

By jove, I think you've got it. Bottom line...use JOIN to connect tables, WHERE to filter the data.
