Thanks for the heads up on that one. We are upgrading to Oracle 8 soon with a change in drivers and tnsnames.ora. This info will good to keep in mind.
thanks again,
Paul
>We just resolved ths issue today. Apparently, NT looks for the tnsnames.ora in a different directory than 9x machines. It happened that the tnsnames.ora it was looking at had incorrect IP addresses.

>After running the same test on the NT machine the speed differences were even greater. 33.8 seconds pulling 10K records using Oracle drivers versus 5.9 for MS drivers.

>>>Paul...we are using the 8.01.55.00 Oracle drivers currently. All the Oracle drivers we have tried have been a major headache for us. Turning off the LOBs resolved some of these issues, but oddball problems are still popping up occasionally. As I said in a previous thread we'll be dropping the Oracle drivers for MS drivers as soon as I can resolve the issues I'm having with MS drivers on NT boxes. On my informal testing the MS drivers were about 4x faster than the Oracle drivers when pulling test data of 10,000 records.
