Tell me... who defines 'unacceptable behavior'

Here are the words of wisdom of the VP of campus life and student affairs:



“The University must provide a safe space for all students,” Montero said. “Any speech should therefore include language requiring ‘I’ statements, community respect, and productive dialogue.”

“The First Amendement was created under extenuating circumstances of total freedom,” Montero said.

“Allowing that freedom among all people is unrealistic, especially in a community of respectful interaction.


Question One: is the VP of campus life and student affairs a constitutional lawyer?

Question Two: Since when does a university official have the power to designate which citizens are/are not afforded protection under the US Constitution?

In plain English, Janina Montero is an idiot and is engaging in unconstitutional behavior. The ACLU is going to have a field day with Brown University..

The bottom line Garrett, you cannot legislate 'niceness'.

What is the price of freedom? The price of freedom is for you and I to have to listen to some hate monger-racist individual spew at the mouth about what he/she believes.

Freedom demands one thing.....BLOOD. You need to fight for it. Freedom is not easy. Sure, it is easy to say you are for free speech. Until of course, something does not suit you. Then, it becomes a bad thing, until YOU need that freedom. Situational ethics is a tough thing. That is why the constitution is one of the single most important documents ever created. It stands the test of time.

You should be very ashamed of your alma matter Garrett. Instead of Brown University, it should be called Red University.. < s >...
