Hire a network engineer; the cable plant and NIC configuration issues for token ring are significantly different, but should not be an issue for an application concern; the choice of network protocol should have 0 effect, and in fact, with Token Ring, there's a guarenteed minimum level of service (each node gets 'a bite at the apple' of cable access in a calculable and enforcable rate, unlike Ethernet where a node can jabber out and kill everyone's access to the cable plant. Unless you've got the necessary hardware, spares and understanding of Token Ring, this is best left to someone who has the tools and experience to handle it. THe app shouldn't care about anything that would be an issue of the underlying communications medium.
