I am showing result in a grid, and my user wants to sort that result how he wants. I cannot fire query every time. So i do indexing on the selected fields and shows to the user. And this is exclusively on temporary file attached to grid.

up till now it was ok. but now he wants ascending/descending options in that. So for this i want this solution.

If the fellow uses a view for his reports/data entry he could order the results as he suggests. That way he wouldn't be causing a global system performance hit just to support this particular need.
