VFP has two facilities to access remote data: remote views and SQL Pass-Through. There is a lot of material published including a book by Robert Green that was put out for VFP 3.0.

Most of the VFP books address cover this topic to some degree and Hentzenwerke Publishing has a book that will hopefully be released soon. Also, the help information does cover the same material to pretty good.
