>I have a large accounting program that will be installed 95% of the time on small (5-10 station) networks. I decided to go with the VFP setup wizard because it is simpler for a server install from a workstation. It works great for the pc I install from. Is there a way, or a program, that I can install on the net or on a CD that can be run at the other workstations that will only install the VFPx.DLL files, etc. and a desktop or program group shortcut icon? I tried the Visual Studio installer also but I can't find a way to make it do this. It look like they both need to install the exe in order to create the shortcut. I'm open to purchasing another setup program if there is a better way.
I'd create a separate install that loaded in a subdirectroy of the networked install. This install would contain the VFP runtime, a dummy file, and would call a post-setup executable to create the necessary shortcuts. You might install the executable to the workstation and create the shortcuts using the post-setup executable to fire a local copy of the executable against the network drive. IAC, there's more to the proper install for the workstation that you've planned; if nothing else, a workstation-specific CONFIG file, and possibly FOXUSER resources, are probably a good idea.
