This has probably been covered before, but is there a way to get the numbers in columns to align so that the right parenthesis on a negative number does not align with the the rightmost numeral on a positive number?

Examples:

desired:

400
(500)
---
(100)

versus what I'm currently getting:

400
(500)
---
(100)
