>>If you own Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4, or purchase it now, there is a patch available on the Adaptec web site that allows it and DirectCD to operate under Win2K. It does not work with OEM distributions that may have come with an add-on CD-RW that you purchased; only with the retail Adaptec product.

>So if I buy a new computer with a factory-installed Win2K and a compatible bay, then I can purchase an EZ CD Creator 4 drive and install it by using the patch.

Detailed instructions:
Take 1 each CD-RW drive that talks to your computer
Take 1 each Brand new copy of Adaptec's EZ CD Creator 4.02
or...
Take an existing Retail Adaptec EZ CD Creator v 4.0
Download the patches from
www.adaptec.conor...
Take an existing Retail Adaptec EZ CD Creator pre v 4
Pay to upgrade to 4.02
(ps check the web site - this was the situation Sunday afternoon - it takes Retail EZ CD Creator with the latest drivers from Adaptec. There are no drivers available to upgrade the OEM EZ CD Creator that people like HP bundled with their drives - only to upgrade the Adaptec retail version. I'd guess that will change in the next few weeks.)
