Nigel,

Yeah.. I really liked the look of the old TD myself. There were two models, the TC (small wheels) and the TD (larger wheels) and the TD just had "that" look if you know what I mean. There are just some automobile models, fewer these days than in the early days with some exceptions, that really were well designed.

Jaguar XKE, MGB GT, Ford Mustang (circa 1965-67), Ferrari (GT 650 I think - ~1967 model), etc.

There was a Cadillac 16 cylinder (inline if you can imagine that) that was King George's towncar I had the opportunity to drive once. It was owned by the fellow who owned Air California and was a big big developer in Southern California. He was a retired general (how do you spell overachiever? <g>) who had a passion for antique automobiles. Anyway, he had purchased the towncar for around US$20,000 in ~1969. There apparently were only two made.

Anyway, you'd start this beast and I swear you couldn't hear the motor running nor feel vibrations. Slip it into gear, let out the clutch and float along. I can only imagine the effort that had gone into the suspension and vibration and noise elements!

Best,

DD
