Title:
Desktop colors affecting reports
I have a couple of reports that place the values inside rectangles. One of my users has customized the colors of individual windows objects in her desktop scheme. Recently these reports began to show the rectangles in red on preview, and to show the rectangles without the data, or vice versa, when printed. Changing the color of one of the windows controls (message box, I think) from red to blue changed the color of the rectangles in the preview from red to blue. It doesn't behave this way on my machine which uses one of the supplied desktop schemes.
Naturally I suggested that she change her desktop appearance to one of the supplied schemes. Her reluctance to do so may seem silly, but she did ask good questions I couldn't answer. Why has a custom color arrangement she had in place for a while (she says) only just begun to affect these reports? Why are only these reports affected? Why are the three similar reports not behaving in a consistent way? What do the colors of a windows messagebox have to do with the printing of these reports anyway?
We use vfp6 sp3 and Win NT 4 (I don't know which NT service pack). It's natural for people to want to make their own color arrangements, since Win NT lets them do it. Should we be telling them not to? Is it just for the benefit of fox apps or are other programs likely to have problems?
