Sorry, haven't answered you yesterday. Yes, I think I would use the approach you suggested. I'll create a stored procedure in database (or better a program in CommonWg\Progs directory - always in a path) and will set modidate to datetime(). I'll probably create another one for assigning UserID. I'll read Help topic, you pointed me.

You could call a stored procedure (or a program), pass the alias that is being updated, replace modidate with datetime() in alias and return .T. to make sure the rule validates.
