Greg C. from MS originally worked on the Grid and I talked to him as well as many of the other VFP team members at the 96 Devcon on the conference floor demoing all of the agonizing bugs that there are in the Grid control. Even as of yet there are still major issues. I even offered to come to Redmond and help if they paid my time. It is a cool control but some issues are inexcusable. I spent 30 - 40 hours working around issues where deleted records don't disappear off of the control with SET DELETED ON and TABLE BUFFERING ON. It was so flaky that it drove me nuts. I just learned not to DELETE but rather TABLEREVERT() the rows. I'm now using views which works around this but is much slower.
