You may start by going straight to the horse's mouth - microsoft. I think they have something about what each app in vstudio is designed for.

You could also mention to your client that he can put really big tires on his car so that it floats and go to Australia with it; it's doable, but he'll always be better off on a boat.

There have also been some discussions about this on the ut. I suggest you run a search on "VB" or "Visual Basic" on the chatter area.

And finally, you could ask him to propose a simple application and since you're "bilingual", write it in VB and also in VFP and let him compare the two.
