Jim,
>To the best of my recollection I have only taken that test once. I found a number of the questions had no correct answer and I just guessed which one they wanted me to give.
I've seen your name twice with two different results in it so I concluded you took the test twice, sorry, if i'm wrong. Maybe someone else registered under your name.
>I have no qualms with the test being there, I just don't think it has any value as a tool for discerning the competency of someone and I also don't think it gives anyone any help in discovering their strengths and weaknesses in the product. Essentially, I found the test very poor in both its breadth of coverage and the practical value of the content. I didn't find the questions tested anything that I would care about if I were trying to decide to hire a person or not.
I'm not arguing about the quality of the test, yes, I agree with your standpoint... But the concept of taking a test on the internet for free at the time you like looks very interesting and practical to me.
Also, I like the idea that there is a database on the internet where I could find some qualified professional developers.
In short, the practical use of it right now is not that high, but I like the concept of it.
Walter,
