Since you were able to open the .PJX file as a .DBF, then you could
have:
replace all devinfo with "", sumbols with "", object with ""
pack
then rebuild your project with the RECOMPILE keyword. If that didn't
work, then you would have to drop back to recreating the project, as you
did.
