I need to develop an application to will run on a Windows CE 2.11 Palm-size PC (Symbol PPT 2700). I have read the book “Professional Visual BASIC Windows CE Programming” by Larry Roof (ISBN: 1-861001-62-2) but it leave me with more questions than answers, mostly due to the fact that it was written in 1998 using Visual BASIC 5.0 and that ADO CE was not available.

I have built a list of limitations listed in the book and I would like to know if these limitations still exist in Visual BASIC 6.0. If a given problem still exist, does Visual C++ 6.0 have the same problem? Do you recommend using Visual BASIC or Visual C++ to develop on the Windows CE platform?

- Single data type
- Can’t unload a form
- Can create only one .BAS module
- No OLE automation
- No MDI forms
- No class modules
- Can only use On Error Resume Next
- Language errors handled at runtime only
- No API calls
- Can’t use Debug.Print
- Can’t build ActiveX controls
- Can’t access databases not created with ADO CE
- ADO CE does not allow to join tables
- Cannot create COM
- Cannot answer call from a modem
- How is stored a signature (format)
- How to capture a signature
- Bug: Left() doesn’t work
- Bug: Cursor keys doesn’t work in a text box
- Bug: Click and Change events for combo box and text box doesn’t fire in a framed control
- Bug: Winsock control close the connection before the DataArrival event fire
- Bug: Winsock control can’t access another machine over an Ethernet connection

TIA
