I wouldn't pay too much attention to these arguments. Whilst in the main they are factual, it's too easy to write a similar document which discredits Access against VFP.

Like most of the programmers in this forum, I used VFP through choice. I learnt to program using Pascal and Turbo Pascal, then on to Delphi, VB and Access, and finally through to VFP. I found Access to be decidely weak at almost all DB I/O, especially with having to use JET. Granted, it can connect directly to SQL, but the point is simple.

The best solution will always be the simple one, and that means choosing the tools for the job.

This is a self-perpetuating argument that will last for as long as Access and VFP are in existence, but if Access were so good, surely VFP, VB, Delphi, Oracle etc. would have fallen by the wayside ?

As a moment of humour, I used to sit next to a guy who programmed in almost every language, and to a very high standard, and he never had a good word to say about Access. In fact, the only thing I can ever remember him saying is, and I quote, "Who ever wrote Access should have it shoved up their arse". Technically unjustifiable, but amusing nonetheless...........
