Thanx for offering to look at my code, but I have found a solution.

With buffering on, each record added to the grid would stay highlighted, with it off, everthing worked fine. What I did was put a skip 1, then a skip -1 immediately after my insertion code to make sure the newly appended record was confirmed in the buffer and the problem went away.
