Similar to my current client. There are some things where they have to weigh up the pros and cons. Theoretically, you could put a resizable editbox in a grid but, as you said, the whole row will go that size. The purpose of a grid is to display a list of items, when the user selects one, other things happen to display further info.

The current project I'm working on has a grid on a page and other details on another page. Select a row of a grid and the other page udpates to match. Similar basis.
