Of course the VFP team should be the ones who know, but sometimes people (even them I'd bet) give short answers in hopes of moving on rather than telling persuasive details. I must say that I am not persuaded by that answer...

1) Reduce performance??? In the era of the 90-100 mhz processor with 16meg I *might* see a point here. But in a world of 400mhz-1000mhz processors and 128meg or 256meg as 'standard' and much faster video adapters, is this still relevant?

2) Reduce performance??? Isn't VFP's claim to fame data access/presentation speed? Would that be harmed in any way??

3) Loss of PEMs? Why??? If you base it on VB's PEM set, then I think this is a mistaken assumption. Yes, VB has far fewer PEMs, but my bet is that that is so to make things easier (ie more "basic") so that it *is* an easier tool to learn.
I'm betting that Win itself offers far more PEMs or that, at the very least, that any Win object could be sub-classed to provide more PEMs.
