Seems like I read the line in the wrong context. *s* I've seen it in the context of the Tastrade sample you gave in your message and your ADO white paper, probably being mislead by the "can we do this with VFP tables" part in the question.
<<

Right, we can... I just did not go the extra step of showing how it could be done. The way to do it is the same way, except that you have to explicitly state the options parameter since the VFP ODBC Driver cannot do this for you. And of course, one needs to use the correct table names for the database thay are working with ...

I stand corrected. It doesn indeed report an "unknown property" error without the last parameter.

Ahhh.... You suggested a solution that did not work because you did not test it. Yep, I have been bit by this myself. Since then, I resolved that if I was going to post a line of code, I needed to test it. Why? Because I know I have this figurative target on my back and that somebody is going to test it and further, will take delight in citing that the code did not work. Of course, folks have done this. And, with a little research, it is usually caused by the lack of application of a service pack, different version, etc. This type of stuff you will have...

As an FPA insider, you really need to reach out to Miriam. She needs to decide what she is going to do. The honorable thing is to resign. That was the honorable think for Tamar to do as well. Together, they have perpetuated this crap. And, for the past 5-6 issues, I have not had a lack of material to correct. This of course, was the goal of me being a TE. You see, Miriam's stuff would recieve this sort of scrutiny BEFORE it was published.

Let's face it, I am the logical person to review this OLE-DB/ADO material. In the VFP Community, I think it is safe to say that nobody has researched it as hard as me. I only count one other person, Rod Paddock who has come as close. And that was for the reasons of publishing a software product and client work. I am not trying to toot my own horn here, but the facts are the facts. It is clear that if somebody other than me had the required knowledge with respect to OLE-DB and ADO, that article would not have been published as-is. The sad fact is, nobody at Advisor does.

Finally, with response to Liz's editorial on how they can help... They can start by having folks that actually know something write the articles. Folks that merely skim the help files will always fail. And with that in mind, I cannot wait for Tamar's Automation book.....< bg >.. I can't wait to see what gems are in that little treasure...< vbg >....
