>>I don't know why everybody is getting so excited about vaporware at this point in the VStudio cycle... C'mon people - VS7 is almost a year away!

>You're right...it is a long way out before release, but is there any difference between this and people getting excited about new cars coming out next year? If you're into cars, you still want to know what's coming.

I think Rick's point is that why get excited about these cars, when you can make your car faster and better looking now?

>I also want to know what areas I should be studying today to help me leverage what's coming down the road. One of the questions raised is, "Will VFP 7.0 support COM+?" If it will, I want to learn about it today.

Learn it anyway. I really don't know if VFP will be able to create free-threaded servers, but however likely it is, it is probably more likely that VB will, and so participating in COM+ will be within reach for all of us. We know that asynchronous and interplatform messaging is coming- so learn the new COM+ features and SOAP now. It will be important regardless of VFP's ability to participate.

> In my case I *have* to learn about them.

Why in your case?
