If you have any object references within the IIF(), make sure they are from the pont-of-view of the grid, not the column. Even though dynamicforecolour is a property of the column, it's actually evaluated by the grid. (for instance, if you had "this.parent" within the iif(), it would refer to the grid's parent, not the grid(the column's parent).
