>I have a customer that has a table with only a 10 records in it but the first one now has black lines in most of the fields. The Pk's are numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 10. So I assume the 9th pk is corrupt. I have him email me the dbf, cdx and the fpt. When I browse the table the table looks fine. I see all of the records. I am really confused. I had him reindex the table and that didn't take care of it.

We had a problem here that sounds similar. We had a table on the network that showed Black Lines in the fields, but the black lines would move around sometimes in the middle and sometimes at the end. What we suspected was that there was some bad disk blocks on the network drive. We renamed the data directory to oData and recreated a new Data directory. Copied the files over to it and then did a pack and reindex. All seems fine. What was strange is that when I would copy the data to my local drive it looked OK, somewhat like you saw when they sent you the data. So I would try to copy the data to somewhere else and try a scan disk to see if bad blocks are present.
