I apologize for not replying sooner, I have been on travel to Washington D.C. the past week. DESC would probably be fine to use as a field name in a table. Just be aware that there is a VFP function - DESCending() - that returns a logical value indicating if an index was created as descending.

I just wanted to make developers aware of the potential conflicts between field names and VFP reserved words, functions and commands.
