I see the "X" just like it shows when it starts up with .Picture = "".

Funny thing is, if I have the Image object's .Visible property set to .F., then start up the form and assign the .Picture property an explicit path to a .BMP file, then set it's .Visible property to .T. I can't even see the big "X". If I query the .Visible property while the form is still running it shows it as .T., but I can't see it.

Try creating an empty form with one Image object and a "Display" button that you can use to assign an explicit path to a .BMP file (anything in the Windows directory) then run it from the command window and click the button and see what happens. I would guess you would see the same thing I am seeing.
