This "contest" in a word, is CRAP...

Allow me a few moments to explain my position...

For starters, the products were selected by a committee, not the development community at large. Therefore, one can hardly call it the "Developers' Choice Awards". After all, you and other developers had zero choice in the nomination process. I have asked that our book be removed. I, nor Rod gave the folks running the contest permission to use our book. Also, I do not condone such an idiotic excercise.

Some observations:

1. Please show me where you can buy Savannah Brentall's VFP 6 OO book?
2. Where is Steve Black's INTL product?
3. Note the plethora of mispelled product names?
4. Why are products like Crystal and vendors like Sheridan listed?
5. Where is the wiki in the list of online forums?

I could go on...

In short order, the contest has zero credibility. My opinion? The VFP tools market is so devoid of choice and options that EVERYTHING is a developer's choice...< bg >

As far as the book section goes, how does one compare books? How does one compare the Hacker's Guide to anything else?

In a word... it's rubbish... It represents nothing more than a bunch of people, a committee if you will, getting together for the purposes of creating a mutual affirmation society. Put more bluntly, it represents yet another spoke in what is increasingly becoming a perpetual circle jerk festival. FPA and Advisor of course, being two other spokes...< s >...
