I am trying to alter structure on a table that is involved in a publication and SQL Server refuses to do it.

I can remove the table from the publication, alter the table and then add it back again to the publication and it works fine.

However, to make this a viable option I need to make sure that all subscribers have synchronized their copies before removing my table from the publication.

Is there any work around to this problem?
