Does a database(DBC/X) open when I USE a table within?

The database container is open, it just isn't the selected database. If you close everything, then open the table, you can use the ADATABASES() function to see that there is now one database container open. You can also use SET("DATABASE") to see that there isn't a container currently selected. So, it's open, just not selected. It's kind of like opening a table in a specific work area, but that work area isn't the one that is selected.
