I love it when a generalized statement that is obviously a generalized statement (not to mention cliche) is taken issue with in a specific manner. But then I do seem to order my life with nothing but generalized cliches and absurdities. For example, one of my axioms of life is the following statement, "We're all Bozo's on this bus." I regard the preceeding statement as nothing short of absolute truth, except maybe in the case of Elmer Fudd. Speaking of Elmer, did anyone other than me sing that memorable tune called "Kill Da Wabbit" this past Easter Morning??? Ooooooooo, Dat cwazy wabbit!!

>Sorry...just couldn't let this statement go by without commenting on it. I've heard this saying before, and I can think of many, many, many exceptions to this "rule." Having attended several DevCons and other similar gatherings (Fox and otherwise), I have observed a lot of our colleagues who were exceptional teachers/facilitators, and who were also very successful and capable software developers, consultants, etc. These individuals can both DO and TEACH. I admire them for being able to do both, and I am grateful for what they've taught me.

>No, I definitely cannot say that they were ALL good...there have been a few "duds" from time to time. These people surely had no business teaching, and I have to wonder about their success-to-failure ratio in the real world. However, in my experience the "duds" have been the exception, rather than the rule. Therefore, I respectfully disagree with your statement above.
