Hi Rick..

Clearly, this whole thing has gotten out of control. My guess is, a few folks were involved. They greatly under-estimated the time required to pull off such an endeavor. Or, they new the time requirement, but procrastinated to the extent that now, they are out of time.

In order to legitimize this whole thing, nominations had to be made in a public forum. This is the part that was conducive to the ASP page. Of course, this needed to be done several months ago. Another important factor missing are the rules. Have you ever seen a contest where rules, drafted by a lawyer, were not present? As far as the voting goes, I suppose the Chicago rule goes, vote early and vote often. Seriously, there are some simple ways around this problem. Regardless, the existing premise is flawed.

So, if it is flawed, what should be done? IMO, the plug should be pulled. There is not enough time to do this right. Or, they could change the name of the awards to:

The Products that Members of an Esoteric/Clandestine Commitee Remembered Awards

The only bigger laughing stock, if there is one, is when the guy from SBT was demonstrating inheritance with a command button. As I recall, you, Max, Steve, Rod, and myself were on the side lauging our A**'s off.

If the event organizers are listening/lurking, hopefully, they will get a clue and cancel the bloody thing all-together. Then, the folks that perputated this little mess should be publicly flogged......< bg >...

>Hmmm... maybe I should write a little routine that randomly plugs Web Connection in there - he,he,he... it'll be kind of funny to have 1 million votes come up for WC??? (wait that's assuming the server could actually handle that!) And here we thought there was only thousands of VFP developers <bg>...
