My guess is that like most things, biz value will tell. All I know about the IBM-created Providers, is that they shouldn't have even bothered.
Interestingly, HiT is cleaning up because of the low quality of the "free" AS/400 Providers. If there are other data sources whose Proprietors are not adopting OLE DB (and I am sure there are more than just the two we mentioned) this could become quite a little niche market.
Oh well, keeps things interesting :)
