Perhaps the file you are trying to open is not being found by the OLE class. Where is your data located? Try opening it with a complete path or perhaps a UNC \\server\share\file.

An error handler in the OLE class could return an error message to you instead of having the class "hang" trying to report an error that it cannot report without user interface.
